SAP2000 allows coupled constraints and restraints. This often works well, but may sometimes cause numerical problems. When coupling can occur, it is recommended to use a constraint for connecting multiple joints, and stiff (but not too stiff) elements for connecting pairs of joints to the larger constraint.
