Generalized displacements are user-defined displacement measures which are useful for output data and monitoring nonlinear-static analysis. Translational or rotational displacements from one or more joints are scaled and summed to generate generalized-displacement values. For example, story drift may be defined as DRIFTX and measured as the difference in UX displacement between vertically aligned points on adjacent floors. Average values may also be obtained by scaling x displacements by 1/x. Additional information is presented in the CSI Analysis Reference Manual (Generalized Displacements).
