WCommute.exe is a utility for checking out network license for a computer that is connected to the network with license server.

License checkout procedure
To prevent the loss of a Network license, the license may be checked out to a workstation, and then checked back in once analysis is complete and results have been reviewed. Please note that other users will not have access to the license which has been checked out until it has been checked back in. The network license check-out procedure, described in detail in the Commuter licensing document, is summarized as follows:
- Run the WCommute.exe utility found in the program installation directory.
- Select Search Subnet to locate the server or alternatively select Single Server, to look for the server by specifying the name or IP Address of the server.
- Select the product and version.
- Enter the number of days to check out license for.
- Select Check Out.
NOTE
Please leave the Check Out Authorization for Remote Machine box blank unless the check out is for a user who is unable to connect to the LAN, has run WRCommute.exe, and has sent you the computer locking code.
License check-in procedure
License will return back to the server once the check out period has expired. Instructions to check in a license before the check out period has expired, and the license was checked out using the procedure above, is summarized below. The license can only be checked in from the machine it was checked out on.
- Run the WCommute.exe utility found in the program installation directory.
- Select Search Subnet to locate the server or alternatively select Single Server, to look for the server by specifying the name or IP Address of the server.
- Select the checked out product and version (checked out asset will be marked with a red check).
- Select Check In.
IMPORTANT
The system environment variable LSFORCEHOST typically needs to be set on the workstation as: LSFORCEHOST = no-net.
This process is as follows:
- Run WlmAdmin.exe, which is found in SAP2000\ETABS\SAFE > Program Folder.
- Record the IP address of the program server.
- For Windows NT, 2000, and XP, open Control Panel > Systems > Advanced (tab) > Environment Variable > System Variable, then enter the information which follows:
When connecting to the network, LSFORCEHOST = IP address of the program server
When disconnecting from the network, LSFORCEHOST = no-net - Reboot the workstation.
